with old growth trees, a five acre fishing lake, tennis courts, soccer field, two baseball diamonds 
and a short nature walk.

Locust Hills is one of the oldest golf courses in the State of Illinois. The course was built in 
1933 and has made several major improvements over the last few years.

Mermaid House

The Mermaid Inn, built in 1830, hosted Charles Dickens during his visit to the Looking Glass 
Prairie in 1842.  This old "hotel" has now been partially restored and is available for tours.
